The Gullah Festival is an awesome event for the community and for all who travel from all over the world to experience the Gullah culture through what we call edutainment.

The plan is to grow, breathe, exist in a space that is nurturing and find others who want the same for themselves, for you, and who are willing to challenge you enough so that you can grow together. Iron sharpens iron.

One thing I continue to relearn is that intention takes practice. Again and again, I have to remind myself to prioritize my peace.

Many cultures have ways of passing down memories. Quilting is memory. That is pieces of fabrics that belonged to different people within the same family, all threaded together with stories of those people.

It was a space where tradition met innovation, elders shared wisdom and youth shared vision.

If you're intimidated by AI, I have sad news for you. It's not going anywhere.

It seems to me that the world needs some healing, some light that will disinfect the nastiness of today’s rhetoric.

Don’t try to share your light with those who can’t wait for you to lean in close so that they can blow it out. You know who they are!

On the topic of community, I am rethinking with whom I engage and how. This involves rethinking the apps I use and how they make me feel.

What happens when the person who is always there for everybody, needs somebody? Try being the supportive one.

Juneteenth continues to enjoy growing interest, recognition, and celebration among organizations and communities throughout the country.

This year the Festival entrance was free. It was our way of saying, thank you and welcome back!

How will you walk into 2022? I've decided to walk in BLESSED!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I have needed every day of it. I have had to slow down and in some cases stop altogether.

We don't want anyone else's anything, we want our own. We've earned that much.

It will take time, but I am prayerful that the United States will return to a position of power with wisdom and grace in tow.

May you discover that your time is too precious, and that you are worth the time and effort of loving those who want to love you in return.

2020 has been painful for everyone, but you have pushed me to keep writing. I show up, because I feel a responsibility.

I voted early, and although you can't see it, I'm smiling. And, it felt good to cast my vote. I want you to feel good about your vote, too.
