Until We Meet Again

I can't believe it's over! A whole year of planning and just like that, the Gullah Festival weekend has come and gone. It's strange. As tired as we are leading up to the festival, you would think we/the volunteers, who have been working so hard, would be too tired to do anything. But the opposite always happens. We are energized by your smiles and your excitement. When we see your buses pull up, vans loading for tours, crowds watching the entertainment, people walking through the Lest We Forget walk through museum & the Vendor Market, etc... it just makes our hearts glad! (I had to stop making a video just so I could dance with you...at least for a few minutes! That's the kind of energy I'm talking about!)

Fireworks Show to Celebrate the Gullah Festival's 40th Year

You only turn 40 once! We had to do something special to commemorate this awesome accomplishment. It started with a conversation in a living room and forty years later, we are still bringing edutainment to the masses and we are not stopping. Your loyalty and continued participation encourage us to keep working hard to keep the Gullah culture alive all over the world. There is so much that people still don't know so we ALL still have work to do. We will continue to post on Instagram, Facebook and our YouTube channel. You can help by following us on all platforms and subscribing to our YouTube channel. That would really help us a lot. We rely on grants and other funding to make the festival happen so the more engagement we have, the better. (If you missed the festival closing fireworks, you can watch the video posted on Instagram.) Shout out to the young lady who helped me go LIVE for the fireworks!

In closing, I just want to say thank you! Thank you for supporting us over the years. You are more appreciated than you know. We look forward to seeing all of you Memorial Day weekend 2026! I pray for your health and strength until we meet again!

This was a really touching piece, you can feel the sense of reflection and community behind it. The idea that something started from a simple conversation and has continued for decades really says a lot about the strength of culture and the people who keep it alive. Events like the Gullah Festival are not just celebrations but also a way of preserving history, storytelling, and identity, especially for a culture that has such deep roots and significance . I like how the tone of the post feels both nostalgic and hopeful at the same time, like it’s looking back but also quietly preparing for what’s next. It reminds you that traditions don’t just continue on their own, they need effort,…
